Plantronics Marque 2 Review

Smartphone bluetooth headsets seem to be on an up and down trend. There’s never really a sustained demand for it (at least that’s what I think since the people that I work with don’t seem to be using any), but its practicality is something a person—especially on-the-go types—can always make use of.

The Plantronics Marque 2 is a sleek bluetooth headset designed for iPhones and Androids at a very affordable price. If you’re looking for something cool that has some real useful features, you might be interested in reading our Plantronics Marque 2 review below.

Design

The Plantronics Marque 2 doesn’t mess around with shapes and curves. It goes straight to the point with its rectangular design and clear plastic earhook. Switches and buttons are well-placed within the headset’s small body.

Plantronics Marque 2 Review Front

The bluetooth headset has a nice, smooth feel to it. Unfortunately the clear ear hook and ear bud gathers oil and dirt easily.

The button with a white circle—the one reminiscent of an iPhone’s home button—is the headset’s call answer/call end button. Directly above that is a LED indicator that flashes red and white. The power switch and the volume/mute button are located on the left and right sides respectively, and the charging/micro USB port is located at the very top.

The Plantronics Marque 2 needs a bit of getting used to (persons with smaller or tender ear canals will get uncomfortable), but once it takes some time locked in your ear you’ll forget its there.

Audio Quality

The Plantronics Marque 2‘s incoming sound is acceptable at best. It doesn’t sound good, doesn’t sound bad either. Calls—depending on your location—are received clear, but persistent crackling (at least 2 out of 5 calls) is a minor turn-off.

Plantronics Marque 2 Review Back

Using the headset as a music or gaming aid brings a so-so experience. It’s definitely unjust to compare it with dedicated music peripherals, but the statement still stands. There’s also a noticeable delay in sound when gaming. Then again Bluetooth technology is slow.

Verdict

At P3,600.00, the Plantronics Marque 2 is definitely worth its price. It’s one of the nicer bluetooth headsets around—and it could be cheaper—but the build quality justifies it. Its straighforward, no-nonsense look gives you that power-user aura, with the occasional person mistaking it for a hearing aid. Don’t you wish that hearing aids are this sexy though?
